My Approach

My Approach

My therapeutic style is warm and open, deeply caring, and respectful of each person's unique goals, challenges, and strengths.  You will find me thoughtful, intuitive, intelligent and genuine. Our work together may help you or your child heal from loneliness, self-criticism, relationship issues, depression, and anxiety.  I foster a supportive and accepting, yet honest and straight-forward environment to help facilitate personal growth.

There is no “one size fits all” model in psychotherapy.  Some people enjoy a somatic mind/body approach while others prefer a more traditional talk therapy approach and others would prefer a structured behavioral approach with homework assignments outside of our sessions together. My approach to therapy is integrative—the way we work together is based on your needs and preferences.

I use techniques from several different evidence-based approaches for individual therapy, including: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems work, Narrative Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy. In my couples work, I use several tools developed by top couples researchers and teachers, including the works of Esther Perel, Terry Real, John Gottman, and Susan Johnson. I attend several trainings each year to stay current with the latest approaches and research to bring into our work together.

I work from a strength-based model where I believe that you are the expert on your life and we will always keep sight of the strengths and resources in you that make you strong, unique, and capable.  I believe wholeheartedly in your ability to grow and make positive changes in your life and relationships.
